Decentralized exchange clarification

    Decentralized exchanges exist since 2014 in NXT. The problem with that was speed, availability of tradable assets and fees.
    If decentralized exchanges will replace centralized ones, it means that people need to have a comparable user experience and be able to trade all current assets you can trade now on the current exchanges. For example Bitcoin to Ethereum or Bitcoin to Ardor.
    How can this be achieved if ifin will be having a dedicated blockchain as underlying technology? And if not blockchain, how do you define a decentralized exchange?
